Every month at Flexspecialisten, we highlight a temporary worker who stands out for their dedication, motivation and development. This month, the title of Employee of the Month goes to Jan den Haan – a trainee butcher working at Van der Zee Slagerijen in Delft.
More than a year ago, Jan decided to take a new direction in his career. After many years of enjoying his work as a chef in the hospitality industry, he was ready for the next step. Through Flexspecialisten, he started a butcher training programme at Van der Zee Slagerijen, where he has been developing his skills in his new profession every day since.
A new challenge
Moving from the hospitality industry into the butcher’s profession naturally brought some changes. The work is different, and so is the pace. Nevertheless, Jan adapted quickly.
“It is a completely different kind of work compared to working in the hospitality industry.”, he says.
It is precisely this new working dynamic that Jan really enjoys. He also sees the working schedule as a major advantage. Regular working hours provide a much better work-life balance than he was used to while working in a kitchen.
Learning through practice
What Jan enjoys most about the training programme is being able to put theory into practice straight away. Every working day provides new opportunities to gain experience and continue developing his skills.
Step by step, he is growing into his role as a future butcher. Thanks to his enthusiasm, willingness to learn and dedication, he continues to master the profession and has become a valued member of the Van der Zee Slagerijen team.
Looking to the future
Jan looks to the future with confidence. He wants to gain even more experience and deepen his knowledge of the butcher’s profession. If everything goes according to plan, he will complete his training in about a year’s time. Once he has received his diploma, he hopes to continue working at Van der Zee Slagerijen.
Jan is also very positive about working with Flexspecialisten. He appreciates the pleasant communication and the fact that questions and comments are always dealt with quickly.
